Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common queries about academic research, teaching methodologies, and Agnes Elisa’s work in social justice and criminal justice.
How has your experience as a Special Agent and Intelligence Analyst influenced your approach to instructional design?
My experience as a Special Agent and Intelligence Analyst has enhanced my skills in analyzing complex information and communicating findings effectively. I apply this precision to instructional design, ensuring content is accurate and aligned with learning objectives. For example, I create courses that simplify intricate intelligence techniques into practical training for law enforcement professionals.
Can you share an example where your bilingual skills enhanced your effectiveness in either criminology or instructional design?
Being bilingual has been instrumental in bridging communication gaps, whether working with international law enforcement agencies like Interpol or developing eLearning courses for Spanish-speaking learners. For instance, I designed a bilingual training program on organized crime investigations, ensuring accessibility and cultural relevance for diverse audiences, significantly improving participant engagement and understanding.
What challenges have you faced when transitioning from criminology to learning and development, and how did you overcome them?
My main challenge was shifting from an investigative mindset to a learner-centered approach. While criminology heavily relies on gathering and analyzing data, instructional design focuses on tailoring that information for educational purposes. I addressed this challenge by using my analytical skills to identify the needs of learners and crafting content that simplifies complex topics without sacrificing depth. My ability to adapt and commitment to lifelong learning made this transition easier.
How do you integrate real-world scenarios from your criminology background into eLearning courses?
I integrate real-world scenarios by designing simulations and case studies based on my experiences in law enforcement and intelligence. For example, I developed an eLearning module on counter-narcotrafficking strategies, including interactive case studies mirroring actual investigations. These scenarios allow learners to practice decision-making and problem-solving in realistic settings, enhancing their practical skills.
What unique value do you bring to clients and learners through your combined criminology and instructional design expertise?
My combined expertise allows me to deliver authoritative and engaging content. I offer a unique perspective by blending field experience with advanced learning methodologies, ensuring practical, relevant, and impactful courses. Whether training law enforcement professionals on intelligence techniques or designing corporate compliance modules, I provide solutions rooted in real-world expertise and tailored to diverse audiences.
